Album Review: Ceilia by Tiwa Savage

 

Hello everyone and Happy new year people!

Straight to the point. It was a Surreal moment listening to the album for the first time. I had wanted to do a review of the album for a while but I kept on postponing it, probably because I wanted to take my time or perhaps because there wasn’t much buzz about the album, it didn’t get the same hype or level of hype that other albums that were released in 2020, and that also cause part of my reluctance to listen to and review the album. 

So I heard “Korogba” and I loved it but it didn’t move me enough to listen to the album. Then I heard “Park Well” and I was like “so Tiwa had a song like this on her album and I hadn’t heard it yet?? But I still didn’t do a review of the album because I hadn’t listened to the album yet. But when I heard “Ceilia’s Song!” Now that was the song! That song is fire 🔥, I had to download the song and then I hit iTunes for the full album.

I knew I had to do a review of the album because I felt the album hasn’t really gotten the buzz and justice it deserved, and they are beautiful songs on the album that people were missing out on, even though I felt it was probably just a few songs thus the not so much buzz.

Listening to songs on the album I got hooked after the first song, I had no choice but to listen further, and I had no idea what I had signed up my ears for, that it was going to be a blissful treat. 

The instrumental beats ushered me into the world of beautiful songs, one after the other. The instrumental accompaniment infused with the lyrics and Tiwa’s beautiful Vocals, made the Ceilia album a beautiful work of art.

My best songs of the album are, in no particular order:

5. Us (Interlude) this is fire too...

6. Attention 

7. Glory

8. Sugarcane

There are 8 songs on this album that I love, so why isn’t it buzzing everywhere?

The album is a spectacular one, and I’d rate it an 8/10.

Weld one to Tiwa Savage for giving us good music to our ears. She deserves all the accolades she got and more for the album.
