Movie Review: Living in Bondage The Sequel

I had childhood memories of living in bondage although it was vague I probably didn’t understand a lot but what I could remember I loved, just the same way I loved “Ahanna”, it wasn’t the actual title of the movie, Rattle Snake was the movie title but we all called it the later the way he ran was befitting of his nickname, but we aren’t talking about “Ahanna” today so back to “Living in bondage”.

I was elated about seeing the sequel but a part of me was scared too as I wondered if the sequel would match up to the original.

Watching the movie 🍿 for the first time, I was anxious about what I would see. The first Scene opened on a young Male actor I knew and had heard nothing about except for the fact that he was lead in the movie that won a lot of awards at the AMVCA’s, one of the reasons why I decided to see the movie was to know why this particular movie was and won so many categories. I was a bit skeptical about the movie and I didn’t want my childhood memories spoilt, even though I could barely remember what I watched in the original movie.

I felt they should have at least used a known face. But, In the first two seconds, I began to have a change of heart, this new actor, made me laugh, his acting prowess was very skillful and exceptional, I wanted to know who he was and mostly I wanted to see more of him.

JKA, Jidekene Achufuson had me glued to my screen in 10 mins, and the director made me applaud his work at every scene as it was undeniably evident. Watching a young man rehearse his presentation to succeed in his dream chase, buy Akara (bean cake), which he furtively had as his breakfast at the interview were epic scenes.

The cinematography was enigmatic, finding a way to invisible teleport the viewer to actually live each scene.

The producers hit the jackpot with the writer and director, but the actors were exceptional, and the best choice they ever made for the movie was to cast JKA as the lead actor.

JKA was the man, the casting directors ticked all the boxes with him and they scored a huge one with the young man, he is a bundle of talent.

He took me on a trip to fairyland transporting me into his world that I could feel his excitement, pain, and at some point even his thoughts...

Mr. Director Ramsey Noah Jnr. Local-International man didn’t come to play, he turned every scene into a movie of it’s own making me reflect on the previous scene while entering into the new scene, he deserved all the accolades accompanied with the movie.

Overall, I’d rate the movie a 9/10

This is one of the movies I would pay to rewatch over and over again.
